Charter Yacht Broker Requirements

Membership Criteria (there are two categories of membership)

In addition to the below specific Criteria, all CYBA Active and Associate Members must:

  • Agree to abide by CYBA’s Standing Rules and uphold the By-Laws.
  • Be truthful in all advertising and product descriptions.
  • Conduct all business in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of yachts and crews.
  • Use appropriate contracts and be able to explain the ramifications of each.

1. ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

Benefits –

Application Requirements –

  • A minimum of four years in business as a Crewed Yacht Charter Broker
  • Attendance at two recognized shows per calendar year.  Currently accepted shows are Tortola (BVI), St Thomas (USVI), Antigua, Nafplion(Greece), Marmaris (Turkey), Genoa (Italy, and Newport (Rhode Island).   Other shows may be considered depending on types of charters booked and booking locations.
  • Confirmation of escrow and business bank accounts
  • Copy of up to date business license, if required in your State/Country
  • Yacht charter website and professional manned business phone lines
  • Sponsorship letters from at least two Active CYBA Members.
  • Endorsements from a minimum of three Clearing Houses/ and or Management Firms with whom you’ve booked charters.
  • Payment of Annual Dues of $125 plus a one time $35 non-refundable application fee (note: your $125 membership fee is not due until approved, only $35 application fee plus PayPal fee, if applicable, is required upon application.

2. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Benefits –

  1. Newsletter Access.

Application Requirements –

  • A minimum of two years as a full time Yacht Charter Broker, have attended a minimum of two recognized charter shows per year and, if required, duly licensed in their country of state of origin.
  • Attendance at two recognized shows per calendar year.  Currently accepted shows are Tortola (BVI), St Thomas (USVI), Antigua, Nafplion(Greece), Marmaris (Turkey), Genoa (Italy, and Newport (Rhode Island).  Other shows may be considered depending on types of charters booked and booking locations.
  • Confirmation of escrow and business bank accounts
  • Copy of up to date business license, if required in your State/Country

Applications paid through Paypal will incur an additional $5 domestic or $10 international service charge. Alternatively, payment may be made by mailing a $US check to:

After review and acceptance of your application by the Membership committee and ratification by the Board of Directors, successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance, and upon payment of membership dues their user account will activate allowing access to all member areas. This will enable access to features online such as Contracts, Itineraries, Trust Account Info, Lessons Learned interactive Forum, Newsletters, and more. New members will then be sent their CYBA Name Tag and Certificate of Membership.
