I have worked in the yacht charter industry for the past 25 years and in many different parts of the globe. Much of the early part of my career was based on the yachts working as crew in areas such as West and East Med, East Coast of the US and the South Pacific. We then owned and ran a very successful charter yacht called Dabulamanzi until I had my daughter Maia who is now 16. Once she came onto the scene we moved ashore to Bequia in the Grenadines and incorporated Indigo Bay Yacht Charters and Services in 1996. This company stayed active for some years. We then moved back to the UK and reinstated Indigo Bay Yacht Charters in 2007.

More Info
Reia’s dedication to service and excellence has created an exclusive and loyal client base. Her attitude also encourages the high level of service you will receive from any of CharterWorld’s brokers. Reia grew up amongst boats and the water. "Sailing around on the family yacht was a normal way to spend the weekend." After traveling around the world for years in her younger days, she found herself once again becoming involved in yachting and began working as a head stewardess on large luxury yachts in the Mediterranean. "I found that luxury yachts were the best way to accomplish my desire to travel and experience new cultures as well as meet people." This superyacht charter experience was valuable background in learning how great charter yachts work, from a management to crew performance and service perspective. Reia's love of travel later compelled her to start a shore based career as an international luxury travel consultant at management level: "I get great satisfaction from organizing the best possible vacation for each individual client". Reia brings to CharterWorld 'insider' charter industry experience, general luxury travel management experience, a Bachelor of Business Studies and an IATA qualification for international luxury travel.

As a charter broker it is my job to know all the crewed yachts, which I represent. Based in in the British Virgin Islands, I have been able to spend thousands of hours interviewing crew and inspecting yachts in the Caribbean, but also have an intimate knowledge of the Mediterranean. This makes me able to offer a very personalized service and it is my philosophy, that the crew is at least as important as the yacht! Sandy: After 30 years of being a schoolteacher and moving to Florida in 1999, I entered the yachting business as an assistant to charter broker Ann Landry with Bob Saxon and Associates. I moved into crew placement at BSA, and then Camper & Nicholsons International bought BSA, and then I opened the Newport office for Camper & Nicholsons. In 2004, Northrop and Johnson offered me a job creating their crew placement, charter management, and retail charter divisions. Tom became the executive director for Northrop and Johnson's worldwide operations. We loved it. It was great. We have always wanted to start our own business. In the summer of 2008, we moved to Natchez, Mississippi, to be with our family and opened Taylor’d Yacht Charters. Tom: Charter is the only segment of the yachting business where you can be located anywhere. You just have to be willing to travel to boat shows to see the boats, which we are.

My interest in sailing started when I bought my first 25′ sailboat in the early 70’s. I began chartering bareboats in the Caribbean back in 1972 and have made over 25 trips to the Islands either accompanied by friends or as their Captain. I began to realize that every time I brought someone new to the area, they enjoyed it so much that they went back again — with or without me. Soon after, I attained a United States Coast Guard Master License and in 1992 I began my own charter boat business in Chicago, Illinois. My boat Lake Street, a 43′ racing sailboat, specialized in private and corporate entertaining and could accommodate up to 20 guests. In 1994 I decided to launch my charter yacht brokerage business, Charter Sailing, Unlimited. By 1996, I met the qualifications of the Charter Yacht Brokers’ Association (CYBA). As a member of this prestigious group, I must regularly inspect the charter fleet and update my knowledge of the respective crews. In addition, I must subscribe to CYBA’s strict code of ethics and run Charter Sailing, Unlimited according to its professional guidelines. Thanks to the Internet, my charter yacht brokerage business has expanded so rapidly that I retired my Chicago charter boat operation to devote my time exclusively to booking charter yacht cruises. Until now, I’ve focused solely on booking yachts in the Caribbean due to my extensive familiarity with the yachts and crews located there.

More Info
Her first love of yachting came after joining a friend aboard her parents’ 46-foot steel sloop for 6 weeks of adventure in South America during their circumnavigation of the globe. Returning to California, she began racing, cruising and crewing on yachts from the Channel Islands to Mexico and the Caribbean before leaving a successful career in the entertainment industry to permanently “mess about on boats.” In addition to six years working as a Charter Broker, Amanda brings almost twenty years of diverse yachting experience to the CharterWorld team. She has professionally crewed and cruised on everything from small private sailboats to charter mega yachts on both coasts of the US, the Bahamas, Caribbean and Greece. In addition to working for a yacht brokerage and service facility, she has owned and refitted two sailboats of her own, and worked as an event planner and caterer/cook on both sea and shore. Her passions for boating, travel and entertaining ensure that she will match you with the perfect charter yacht and crew, in a fantastic destination, for a holiday you will never forget.
